Departure… final moments & reflections on the trip

My final moments in Tokyo consisted of shopping and further exploration in Shinjuku mainly, with a goal to find Queer-friendly publications and reading material to utilise in my practice as research. I also picked up some great screen printing materials at Sekaido, a famous art supplies store in Japan.

Close to this store I wandered into a residential district with a Buddhist shrine and paid some final respects. I wanted to honour the spiritual experiences I had here and how they’ve remained a strong part of my love for the country.

I checked out of my hotel and headed back to Haneda airport, to continue on my journey back home. It was such an incredible trip altogether, and there is so much I’ve experienced here that will impact me personally and in my art practice. I’m excited to reflect on my time here and create work that honours my experience of Japan.
